I’m standing at the very tip of the edge of my faith. My soul screams, “We’ve given up everything! We cannot go any further. Please, don’t make us go any further.” But then my spirit answers back, “We have to go further. It’s part of the plan. Stay at the edge and press. Press for more. You can do this. We can do this.” The spirit is so encouraging of the soul. Holy Spirit is so encouraging of the soul too. They are both cheerleaders of more. More growth. More strength. More power. More expansion.
The edge of my soul’s faith is scary for my soul. This specific edge is an edge I’ve never been to before. Past seasons have revealed similar edges, but this specific one is unique. It has its own story. Honestly, if I hadn’t allowed my soul to persevere in past seasons, this edge would be even scarier. However, my past with this type of edge gives me great hope for victory in all areas.
In the current moment, I wonder, “When and how? When will the victory come and how will it play out?”
I hear Jesus and the Father in this challenging moment too. “This is the edge. It’s good. The delay is not from us, but it is good. We will use it. We are gaining greater capacity to take on more. We are trampling the darkness when you live at the edge like this and press up against the delay. Counter the delay with the strength from the authority we’ve given you. Counter the delay with what Holy Spirit has spoken to you about the way in which we have ordained time to move in this moment. Look around, everything else is moving ‘fast’ just like Holy Spirit told you it would. So do not allow the delay in this area to cause you to question what you’ve been told. Press against it. Press against it with focus and force. Use the wisdom and discernment you’ve cultivated with us to go forward right now. Listen deeply. Don’t be overrun with fear or catastrophize.
Amanda, look at yourself! You’re anchored to hope. That hope is secure. You certainly won’t fall apart anchored to hope. Hope is expectancy of future light, and that light produces life.”
It’s true. I do expect more light. I expect more growth. I expect more life. I just wish the contention with the kingdom of darkness was easier. Wouldn’t it be easier if we didn’t have to contend? Wouldn’t it be easier if we just took a mental, autopilot vacation and didn’t move forward?
It seems that way sometimes, but then, if we didn’t move forward, well the darkness would not get trampled. Instead, it would try to swallow us whole, consuming the light that we possess.
We weren’t created for consumption though. We are light bearers. We are the ones that are to do the consuming. We are the ones that are created with the dominion and authority to combat the darkness and overrun it as we persevere forward.
There’s always so much to contend for too. Holy Spirit heals you. He frees you. And then He uses you as a vessel of light and glory to move forward in a world that is oozing with darkness.
---
I don’t know what you’re contending for today. It might be something big or small. It might be in your life or someone else’s. I just want to encourage you to keep moving forward. Keep contending for what God has laid in front of you. Even if He didn’t lay the delay in front of you, press forward and overcome it. He’s equipped you to be able to overcome it.
And no, no it’s not easy. However, we do become more skilled and equipped for what we are facing each and every time we choose to live at the edge and press against the darkness. We become more skilled every time we contend and overcome.
That is the goal. To overcome the current obstacle because it paves a path for the next one ahead of us. And then we overcome that one. Before too long, we look back and see all of the victories. Victory after victory lay behind us. And so, we pull deeply on those victories. They are like fuel for the fire that gives us the motivation to contend for and overcome the next. So, keep going!
