All That Power

Thoughts of power have been swirling around in my mind for the past two months. Not knowing where or how to land the plane, I keep circling, hoping for a sign.
One of the main thoughts I keep returning to surrounds lyrics from Kanye West’s song “Power.” He asks, “Do you have the power to let power go?”
To me, it’s a humbling ask. Something those who are in a place of authority should constantly search out deeply inside of them. The power to let power go. The ability to steward your place of leadership in such a way that you don’t gatekeep good from the righteous and those in need, but allow it flow freely to them.
For me, I believe Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit administer all true divine power. Granting each of us with the authority to wield that power as we walk forward in this broken world, filled with broken systems.
It’s fascinating to me how it all works. My relationship with the three pulls me higher into a place where my life doesn’t resemble brokenness in any way, and in response, character is built and cultivated inside of me. That character becomes righteous and capable of stewarding a level of authority that I wasn’t able to carry before. Meaning, I can speak to and pray with someone and they are freed from darkness and oppression. There is a trust within my relationship with the divine that says, “She’s capable of stewarding divine power because she’s allowed her insides to be transformed. Now, she can help administer transformation to others. She can be a vessel of power through the authority granted to her from the divine.”
It’s meant to be like this for all of us. We are all created to walk in a level of spiritual authority that grants us the power to bring light to a dark world. Our human spirits are capable of changing the environment around us, calling it to a higher vibration and frequency than it currently knows. Dead, dull, and dark spaces and places aren’t meant to languish when we have been given the authority to administer life-altering, dimension bending power.
Lately, this is what fascinates me the most about the Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit. They walk in so much humility that they don’t gatekeep. Yes, there are levels of refinement, development, growth, and maturity we must access for certain levels of authority and power to be granted to us; however, once we’ve reached those places, we are released to operate in all of it. We are able to feel empowered and fulfilled.
What good would I truly be doing if I gained healing and freedom and a lifetime of endless resources, but then didn’t teach others how to gain the same in their own lives? Who would I be if I kept Holy Spirit to myself and made others come to me for answers? As if the divine only speaks to me.
That’s not how it works. We don’t gatekeep power. We show others how to plug in and gain the resources they need. We teach others how to access the same measure of connection we share with the divine, in hopes that they will develop, grow, and mature in ways we’ve never thought possible for even ourselves.
And while systems and leaders in this world clutch their power, never allowing it to be released for people to thrive, those who are in relationship with Holy Spirit have a deeper responsibility. We have to keep growing and maturing into higher levels of authority, so that greater levels of power are released to us to upend the evil and corrupt systems of this world. We must be in constant pursuit of areas inside of us that are still languishing and in need of great freedom and transformation so that we may gain it and give others the playbook for gaining it themselves.
Healing. Miracles of biblical proportion. The almost folklore fairytales we fantasize about are manifested through our ability to contend for a greater release of authority and power. We have to become stronger, tougher beings who can carry the weight of greater responsibility.
Because, while the God-head does give authority and power away, it’s not cheaply given. It requires depth, perseverance, and deep examination. It requires the ability to not bow our heads to the noise of the physical world that constantly says, “You don’t have enough because… You aren’t enough because…”
In sharing all of my thoughts, I believe the destination of the plane I’m landing is marked, “increase.” An increase of more authority so that I may access more divine power. Which means, there is a greater release of transformation inside of me that needs to spring forth.
Now the question is, what does that look like?
