The weariness of my soul is real. I’ve experienced weariness from delay before, but this is another level. It’s heavy. Not heavy in a way that won’t allow me to move forward with my responsibilities, but heavy in a way that emotes a level of wanting to throw my hands up because I don’t know how to move forward with the weight I’m carrying right now.
I hate not knowing how to move forward. It is the most aggravating feeling for me. It’s like I’m standing on a road asking Holy Spirit, “Which way next? Tell me what’s next.” But He’s silent because He hasn’t given a directive yet.
Throughout the process of this delay, his directives have been clear and precise. The directives have actually produced the next step and some seismic breakthrough, which have been astronomically helpful in overcoming the contention of the delay in the spirit realm. However, the delay still persists. I can see pieces of the final outcome. They are strong and pronounced. But the pathway to that outcome is unknown.
Deep down, I want to know where the sovereignty of God is in all of this (I have a very limited understanding on sovereignty). I asked Him. “Why can’t you step into time and cause the delay to disappear? My timing angels are moving forward with the assignment you’ve given them. Why can’t you send one of them in the flesh to make this go through?
It’s all so much to keep going. You told me that you never planned for the delay to happen, but now we must ‘navigate around it.’
And sure... Sure, the delay is strengthening me. It’s teaching me. I’m gaining the revelation and wisdom to craft tools that will pay back in dividends for me and others that will use them later, but why can’t you just fix it now? My soul just wants you to snap your fingers and fix it now!
I know this isn’t who you are though. You are about process and order. You are about refinement, development, growth, and maturity. I know in my spirit that the contention is good, but I just want this to end.”
Holy Spirit said, “I hear you. I see you. You’re right, I’m not going to step into time and ‘just fix it.’ I want you to overcome the darkness. Overcoming the darkness will help you gain an immense amount of territory in the heavens and the earth. You are contenting for so much right now.
You aren’t going to be disappointed on the other side of this when you see what you’ve been contenting for. You’re going to be very pleased with the war you’ve been fighting. It’s going to be good on the other side. The other side of the battle is always good because it leads to a release of light that completely overcomes and swallows up the darkness. I know it’s challenging right now, but just keep moving. Even when I haven’t given you the next step, remain in a place to receive the next step. Persevere in your soul until the next step comes. And then, when it does come, stay in present pursuit of all the things laid before you, and don’t become overwhelmed by them at all.”
Because I trust Holy Spirit more than anything and anyone I know, I responded back, “I guess patiently waiting and moving forward when it’s time is my only option.”

And it’s challenging… To keep going… To keep moving forward. We aren’t merely flesh and blood. We are human spirits, with souls and hearts, inside of bodies. We exist in more than one realm and dimension at a time. There is a lot happening around us at any given moment. We don’t move with the command of our thoughts and emotions. Instead, we follow our human spirit, who is led by Holy Spirit.
And, because we follow our human spirit who is following Holy Spirit, I’d like to say, ‘contention with the darkness becomes easier as we move forward,’ but then I’d be lying. If anything, our healing and freedom leads to a greater increase of light on the inside of us. Where we were once capacitators of darkness, we are now capacitators of light. That light inside of us has a purpose. It’s meant to be expressed in the heavens and the earth. It’s meant to stand firm against the darkness. We are meant to use the light inside of our healed and freed beings to overcome the darkness.
Which is why, the more light we contain, the more darkness we are able to overcome. The goal is to be a light bearer. To grow in authority so that the darkness will bend a knee to us because we come in the name of King Jesus (who is the highest expression of light because he is an extension of the light).
And though the fight doesn’t normally become easier, we do become more skilled and equipped at fighting it. We do abide with more peace and wisdom to go forward. We are able to access new levels of wisdom, revelation, and discernment that will help us wield tools to use against the darkness.
So, my message to you is: KEEP GOING. If Holy Spirit has led you into it, he has a plan through it. And, if the darkness comes in like a flood, aiming to overturn the plan and wear down your soul, stay focused on Holy Spirit and what he’s saying. It’s the best way through. It’s the best way to receive the next step. He will navigate you around the madness of the flood better than you or any human being can. So, be patient, listen, and follow him to the place where the darkness is finally consumed by the light.
